SMAC AT WORK

The Sheppard Military Affairs Committee works on a daily basis in local, regional and national levels to protect, communicate and strengthen the assets of Sheppard Air Force Base.

Working hand in hand with key Sheppard leadership, SMAC has recently made several significant accomplishments for SAFB. Because of the competitive nature when vying for new military missions, much of our work happens behind the scenes. Though these efforts are less visible, they are equally important to the mission at hand. We are actively visiting with key military leadership and lawmakers to promote the value of Sheppard AFB to the United States Air Force.

Another primary mission of SMAC is to promote community support for the base. Through hosting receptions for new base leadership, historical USAF events and significant ENJJPT events, we are supporting the interactions between civic organizations, businesses and Sheppard.

Recent Successes

• New Mission coming to SAFB: the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy

• New Mission coming to SAFB: Explosive Ordnance Disposal Course

• New facilities to be built: ENJJPT Operations Complex to host the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training mission at SAFB

Execution of a Joint Land Use Study: The outcome of this study is critical in preventing further encroachment of SAFB. Future encroachment could possibly cost SAFB valuable new missions or the loss of current missions.
